In the case of a goalkeeper stopping a ball, a force is applied opposite the direction of the ball's motion, which reduces its speed to zero. In hitting a moving ball in hockey or cricket, not only does the ball's speed change, but its direction of motion, too. Force can also lead to a change in the shape of an object. The effects of force, thus, are key in shaping our interactions with physical objects in daily life.
