Talk to two workers (For example, construction workers, farm workers, factory workers, workers at any shop) to find out if they are receiving the minimum wages laid down by law.
Speaking with two construction workers, it was evident that they were not receiving the minimum wages prescribed by law. This was in part due to their employers' focus on maximizing profits, often at the workers' expense. This direct violation of labour laws echoes the exploitation detailed in the 'Story of a Shirt'. The situation illustrated a glaring need for stricter enforcement of laws, particularly minimum wage regulations, to protect workers' rights and ensure their fair compensation. Additionally, there seems to be a lack of awareness among the workers about the legal provisions that exist for their protection.

Have you noticed any instances of exploitation or unfair practices in the market around you? Share your experiences.
Instances of exploitation and unfair practices in markets are common and I have noticed several in my local area. For example, some businesses undercut their competitors by paying workers low wages, essentially exploiting their vulnerability to increase profit margins. Businesses also often disregard safety and environmental standards to cut costs. There have been cases where workers are underpaid, overworked, and even children are employed. These practices are all deeply unfair and are often a result of the ineffective enforcement of laws designed to prevent such situations. It is crucial for the government to implement and enforce laws that protect workers, consumers, and the environment to ensure social justice.
What kind of laws has the government implemented to protect cotton farmers, weavers, and garment factory workers from exploitation?
