Sarita went to a confectionery store. She purchased biscuits worth $₹ 105.60$, bread worth $₹ 19.75$, juic tins worth $₹ 228.65$ and toffees worth $₹ 8.80$. She gave a 500 -rupee note to the shopkeeper. What amount did she get back?
To find out how much money Sarita got back, we first need to calculate the total amount spent on the biscuits, bread, juice tins, and toffees:
Biscuits: ₹105.60
Bread: ₹19.75
Juice Tins: ₹228.65
Toffees: ₹8.80
Adding these amounts together gives us the total amount spent. Then, we subtract this total from the 500-rupee note she gave to the shopkeeper to determine the amount she got back.
Let's compute this:
$$ \text{Total Amount Spent} = 105.60 + 19.75 + 228.65 + 8.80 $$
Then the amount she got back is:
$$ \text{Amount Got Back} = 500 - \text{Total Amount Spent} $$
Calculating the values: The total amount spent by Sarita is ₹362.80. After subtracting the total amount spent from the 500-rupee note she gave to the shopkeeper, Sarita got back ₹137.20.
