Use the terms ‘constituency’ and ‘represent’ to explain who an MLA is and how is the person elected?
A Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) is a representative elected by the voters of a constituency to the state's legislative assembly. Every state in India is divided into different areas or constituencies, and the voters of each constituency elect one representative to become an MLA. Hence, an MLA represents the people of his/her constituency in the governance of the state. This person stands for elections, often under the banner of a specific party, and wins the seat via majority vote. Through this democratic process, the elected MLAs come to form the government at the state level.
How did some MLAs become Ministers? Explain.

Explain what the role of the Governor in the state government is?
The Governor is the head of the state. Appointed by the Central Government, the Governor ensures that the State Government operates within the parameters of the Constitution. Along with the chief minister and his/her council of ministers, the Governor plays a crucial role in making decisions. These decisions guide the functioning of the different departments within the state, including the Public Works Department, the Agriculture Department, and others. Additionally, it is the Governor who appoints the chief minister and other ministers following the elections. In some cases, the ruling party might be a coalition of parties, another scenario that the Governor manoeuvres.
