Birds are winged creatures. An ostrich cannot fly in spite of having wings. Why?
Birds like the ostrich have wings but cannot fly primarily due to two reasons:
Size and Weight: Ostriches are very large and heavy birds. Their body size and weight make it difficult for them to lift off the ground. While their wings provide balance and help in running, they are not strong or large enough relative to their body size to support flight.
Wing Structure: The wings of an ostrich are not structured like those of flying birds. Flying birds have strong, muscular wings with feathers aligned to catch air and create lift. Ostrich wings are relatively small and not designed for aerial flight.
Think and fill in the correct words in the circles. You may fill in the names or draw or paste pictures of animals.
