Katharine Pyle was an American artist, poet, and children's writer. She was born in Wilmington, Delaware, in 1863 and was the younger sister of the famous author and artist Howard Pyle. Katharine began her career painting fine china and later moved on to illustrations and writing children's literature. She published her first work in 1898 called "The Counterpane Fairy". Pyle is known for her enchanting tales and verses which often carried important moral lessons. Her poetry was fun and accessible to children, yet deep and thought-provoking for adults. She passed away in 1938, leaving behind a rich legacy of art and literature.
