Pooter has rented a house. What is it like, and what issues are caused by its location?
Pooter and his wife have rented a six-roomed residence with a front breakfast parlour. The property features both a front and back garden. The front door is located up ten steps and is usually kept chained and locked. They instead utilize the side entrance for regular use.
The back garden is adjacent to a railway, which initially caused concerns about noise. However, the landlord assured them that they would get used to it and took off £2 from the rent to compensate. The only inconvenience is the cracking of the garden wall at the bottom due to the proximity to the railway.
Issues occur as there is no key to the bedroom door, and the doorbells need repair. The parlour bell is broken, and the front door bell chimes in the servant's bedroom, which is inconvenient. Another issue is a "scraper" located at the entrance that causes people to trip.
