M C Mary Kom is an Indian boxer and politician. She was born on 24 November 1982 in rural Manipur, India. She developed an interest in boxing at a young age and began to train. She went on to become one of Indiaβs most celebrated boxers and athletes. Kom has won many medals during her illustrious career including six gold medals at the AIBA boxing championships, a gold medal at the 2014 Asian Games and a bronze medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics. She was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 2020. She released her autobiography Unbreakable in 2013.
