Imagine what a passenger train might say about a day in its life.
Write a paragraph beginning with the sentence:
I lead a most interesting life … ……………………………………………………………………………………………………
…………………………………………………………………
I lead a most interesting life, speeding on train tracks from morning till night. Every day, I carry lots of happy people and they all have their own stories. Some people get on early in the morning, they go to work and have breakfast on the way. Then, in the daytime, I carry families who are going on trips and kids who love to look out of my windows as we pass beautiful places. My favorite time is the evening, when people who have finished work take a rest as they ride home. And at night, I take people on exciting trips to different places. No matter the weather, I'm always on the rails, helping people get to where they're going and being a part of their everyday stories. It is indeed a great life!
Which of these words refer to soft sounds? Tick them. (Look up a dictionary if necessary.)
Shriek | whisper | scream |
screech | purr | sigh |
rumble | murmur | mutter |
rustle | roar | din |
