Definition:-

Words which describe Verbs are called adverbs. To remember it easily you can just break the word  "ADVERB" to "+Verb"

 

For example

To understand better look at this picture

The child swims fast.

In this sentence Swims is the verb because that's the action and fast is the adverb which tells you how the action was done.

 

Let’s look at another picture

 

Children are playing happily.

In this sentence playing is the verb because that's the action and happily is the adverb which tells you how the action was done.

 

The words which tell us how an action is done is an Adverb.

Kinds of Adverbs

Adverbs which tell us where the action happened are adverbs of place

Examples

I went there.

He is waiting outside.


Time
Examples

My teacher came early.

The monsoon was very late.


Manner
Examples

My mother always talks lovingly.

He cried loudly.
