I do not understand this child Though we have lived together now In the same house for years. I know Nothing of him, so try to build Up a relationship from how He was when small. a. Who is 'I' in the stanza? Which child is 'I' talking about? b. Why does he call the child 'this child' rather than 'my child'? c. Why does 'I' feel that he knows nothing of 'him '? d. What effort does he make to be able to understand him?

He is talking about his only one with whom he has estranged relations and aspires for amicable relations. b. he refers to him as this child since he is displeased with his attitude and indifference and finds it difficult to call him his own. c. The father feels that they do not think on similar lines and do not share the same emotional vibes. d. The father tries to recollect his thoughts on his childhood and how could he improve his relation with his son if he were to visualize the things from a childβs prospective.
